About Joanne

Joanne is a community leader who has worked in communications for more than 30 years, providing advocacy, media support, public affairs and reputation/crisis services to nonprofit, government, and business organizations. She is a regional board member of International Association of Business Communicators and a past board member of several educational and arts organizations in Minnesota. Her strategic public relations work and advocacy has helped companies create awareness in media including The Wall Street Journal, ABC, NBC, CBS networks, The London Observer, Slate  National Public Radio (NPR, USA Today, national blogs and dozens of other media publications.

Joanne has successfully advocated for changed and raised awareness in hunger relief, access to the arts, youth education, the disability community and support for families living at below the poverty line.

A frequent speaker on crisis communications and in the food industry, she is certified as a Strategic Communications Management Professional (SCMP) by the International Association of Strategic Communicators. She is also an award winning writer of campaigns, thought leader essays and op-ed articles. She also has a B. A. degree in English and journalism from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and has studied economics, business and marketing at the University of Minnesota.

Joanne is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators and am committed to upholding their recently adopted Code of Ethics.

Joanne is certified through this organization as a Strategic Communications Management Professional, requiring ongoing annual training in communications strategy and tactics. She also has a B. A. degree in English and 

journalism from the University of St. Thomas and has studied economics, business and marketing at the University of Minnesota. She is on the Pacific Plains Regional board of the International Association of Business Communicators and a past board member of Normandale Community College Foundation, Mill City Summer Opera, Fare Table and Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony.
